Chiradzulu is a district in the Southern Region of Malawi. The capital is Chiradzulu. The district covers an area of 767 km.² and has a population of 236,050.
Located 15km North of Blantyre towards Zomba, this district played a prominent role in Malawian history. It was near base of the mountain that Dr David Livingstone helped Bishop Mackenzie found the Church of Scotland in 1861. Chiradzulu also has the most accessible evergreen forest in the Blantyre area and is a great place for bird watchers.
Birds include, Thyolo alethe, a variety of robins, bulbuls and crowned eagle. Mammals include vervet and samango monkeys, baboon, spotted hyena, red duiker and bush buck.
